Concept and Approach

HPEM2GAS’s ambition is to realise breakthroughs in Proton Exchange Membrane water electrolysis technology for Distributed Hydrogen Production and to bring the innovative solutions demonstrated in previous FCH JU projects from TRL 4 to TRL 6. The concept and approach are targeted to realise a step-change in stack performance, energy efficiency, stack lifetime and system costs while meeting the technical requirements of electrolysers for the interaction with the grid and renewable energy sources.

HPEM2GAS uses advanced materials for PEM electrolysis including nanosized
electrocatalysts and short side chain Aquivion perfluorosulfonic membranes.
